Happy Memorial Day

In the midst of high school proms and graduations and college commencements, we stop and take a moment to honor those who have died while serving their country. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have increased that number significantly over the past several years and made Memorial Day a bittersweet holiday for those who were left behind.

Celebrated in May since its inception, Memorial Day was originally known as Decoration Day and was established to honor Union soldiers who had been killed in battle during the Civil War. Today, Memorial Day commemorates all United States soldiers who have died while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, including Confederate soldiers.

A federal holiday that always falls on the last Monday in May, Memorial Day is viewed as the marker indicating the start of summer with Labor Day, which is celebrated on the first Monday in September, marking summer’s end.

Parades, cookouts, U.S. flags, fireworks and a variety of celebrations abound across the country on this day that allows most U.S. workers to enjoy a long weekend. And every year since 1911, the Indianapolis 500 auto race has taken place on the Sunday before Memorial Day, making it an extra special weekend for auto racing enthusiasts.

Because Memorial Day weekend is a weekend of leisure and shopping for most U.S. citizens, it provides managed IT services providers (MSP) a great opportunity to show their community spirit. MSPs can select one day out of the Memorial Day weekend to give back to their communities by offering local citizens advice on how to be safe while using the Internet or offering free computer screenings to a limited number of people or during a specific block of time.

Testimonials

The biggest benefit to using Snider Technology is their ability to do a lot of things. Whether it is a cabling problem, software problem, or hardware problem, they are able to take care of it. It's a young company that works hard to keep up to date on new technology. They are not afraid to try something new and do the research to make it happen.
